UPC Project Researchers: Ramon Agusti Ferran Casadevall Ramon Ferrus Jordi Perez-Romero Anna Umbert Juan Sanchez The reference framework for this Project is a mobile heterogeneous scenario where IP-based multimedia services are provided in an efficient manner with end-to-end QoS guarantees. In this context, a number of aspects are intended to be studied in order to progress towards an integrated and generic solution.

UPC Project Researchers: Ramon Agusti Ramon Ferrus Jordi Perez-Romero The project TelMAX conducts research on a new concept of cellular communication system, adapted to the mobile environment, to provide broadband IP connectivity services, with management of the quality of service, while ensuring uninterrupted support in ongoing communications for the implementation of professional services for voice, video and data.
|
The project assumes as global objectives the efficient management of the radio access resources, the provision of Qos and the management and explotation of heterogeneity; considers as tools to be used the Software Radio concept and the architectures based in all-IP and the solution that proposes follow the concepts Cognitive Radio and Cognitivie Networks.

UPC Project Researchers: Ramon Agusti Ferran Casadevall Ramon Ferrus Jordi Perez-Romero Anna Umbert Juan Sanchez The starting point of this project is that of mobile wireless heterogeneous networks (including UMTS, GERAN and WLAN) with the aim to provide end to end QoS for IP-based multimedia services in an efficient way. In this framework, the purpose of this project is to cope with the different problems at different levels leading to gain insight into an ultimate global solution.

UPC Project Researchers: Ramon Agusti Ramon Ferrus Antoni Gelonch Jordi Perez-Romero Oriol Sallent Anna Umbert In any wireless system there is clearly a very scarce resource, which is the available bandwidth. 3G mobile Communications Systems intend to provide several classes of services at different bit rates while assuring a Quality of Service (QoS) for each one. The only way to harmonise these two contradictory points (scarce bandwidth and a stringent QoS) is with a proper management of the available radio resources. This project aims at providing advanced Quality of Service (QoS) management solutions for the support of integrated voice and data services within the context of Universal Mobile Telecommunication System (UMTS).

This project addresses relevant technologies to promote the integration of new generation of mobile communication networks. The technologies considered are the all-IP architecture and the Software Radio. Therefore the purpose of the project is to clarify the needs under such technologies and introduce new concepts and approaches to go further on that integration.
